What the $74 actually buys
Not the GLP-1. WeightWatchers is explicit in its own fine print: "Cost of GLP-1 medications not included." What the membership does include is the clinician relationship, insurance support, the GLP-1 Success Program, community workshops, and — genuinely included — non-GLP-1 oral medication kits dispensed through its pharmacy partner Carepoint.
So this is a membership price competing against other providers' membership prices, not against a price that buys treatment.
It is a twelve-month contract, not a monthly plan
This is the single most important fact on the page and it lives in the fine print: "$25 for your first month with a 12-month plan. After the first month, membership continues for $74/mo for remainder of the 12-month plan ... Plan auto-renews for another 12-month period at the same monthly rate at the end of each plan."
The membership agreement supplies the teeth. Cancelling does not stop billing — "if you terminate your subscription, you must pay the applicable monthly subscription fee until ... the end of the commitment plan period", and cancellation "will take effect ... in the case of a long-term commitment plan, at the end of the commitment plan period."
Fees are owed whether or not you use the service: the full monthly fee is due "regardless of whether you participated in any of the Fee-Based Products or Healthcare Services or logged onto the Site or Mobile Apps during that month".
You can pay for a year and never get the drug
"Payment of the initial consultation fee or subscription fee does not guarantee medication availability. Members will not be refunded any fees, even if prescribed medications are unavailable." Given that this membership does not include the medication and exists largely to help you obtain it, that clause deserves to be read twice.
The initial consultation fee is charged at sign-up and is not refundable.
Brand-only, which is a real point in its favour
WeightWatchers states: "We only prescribe FDA-approved medications, available in both injection and injection-free options." The word "compounded" does not appear on the Clinic page or in the membership agreement. Among the twelve providers reviewed here, that is a meaningful distinction — it means no exposure to the compounding regulatory question, and no ambiguity about what you are being dispensed.
Getting started
An online quiz, then a telehealth consultation with a clinician, then prescription and insurance work. The format is not always your choice: "In some states and for some members of a certain age, a synchronous consultation is required. This means you must be present on a secure video call." If technical problems stop you joining, the appointment is cancelled and rescheduling is your responsibility. Lab work may be required before the first consultation can even be booked.
A refill trap on the way out
"The Providers will not send transfer prescriptions or file prior authorizations for members who have unsubscribed within the past 30 days." If you cancel and then need your prescription moved elsewhere, there is a month during which WeightWatchers will not help you move it.
Where the documents disagree
The Clinic page says the plan "auto-renews for another 12-month period at the same monthly rate". The membership agreement says that where a discounted rate applied, "your membership will automatically be renewed at our standard membership rates and for our standard period (usually monthly)". The agreement contains a separate branch for long-term plans renewing into long-term plans, so which rule governs a Med+ buyer at renewal is not resolvable from the published text.
No excluded states are named anywhere.
